1. Getting started

1
Install the app. Download NephroLife free from the link on our home page. It works on Android phones.
2
Create your account. Open the app and sign up with your email address. You'll set a password and confirm your email.
3
Sign in. After that, the app remembers you — you go straight to your Home screen each time you open it.
NephroLife is built for people on haemodialysis. If you are on peritoneal dialysis or pre-dialysis, some features (like inter-dialytic tracking) won't fully apply.

2. Setting up your profile

Open the Profile tab (bottom right) and tap edit. Filling this in makes every other feature more accurate. You can add:

3. The Home screen

Home gives you the day at a glance:

4. Logging dialysis sessions

Open the Sessions tab to record each dialysis run. For every session you can note the date, duration, blood pressure before and after, weight, fluid removed, any symptoms, injections given, and how you felt (energy level). Over time this builds a history you and your doctor can review.

On a scheduled dialysis day, Home shows a gentle prompt to confirm the session. Confirming it resets your between-sessions diet budget so allowances stay accurate.

5. Lab reports & trends

1
Add a report. In the Labs tab, take a photo of your blood report (or upload a PDF). You can add more than one page.
2
Values are read for you. NephroLife reads values such as potassium, phosphorus, creatinine, urea, haemoglobin, calcium and more. Always check the numbers against your paper report and correct anything before saving.
3
See what it means. Each value is shown against its normal range. With Pro, you can tap for a plain-language AI explanation.
4
Track trends. View how a marker moves over 3, 6 and 12 months, so you can see whether things are improving.

6. Diet & fluid tracking

The Diet tab helps you stay within safe potassium, phosphorus, sodium and fluid limits between sessions. Your limits adjust to your latest potassium and phosphorus results.

7. AI diet advice

With Pro, open Diet → Diet advice and ask in plain English or Tamil — for example "Can I eat banana today?" or "Prepare a good lunch menu." The assistant answers using your own recent lab values, your 12-month trend, what you've already eaten today, and ICMR–NIN food data, then suggests safer alternatives where needed.

AI advice is general information, not medical advice. Your dialysis unit's and nephrologist's guidance always comes first. See the safety note below.

8. Medications & adherence

In the Meds tab, add your medicines (for example phosphate binders, blood pressure tablets, iron or EPO). Mark doses as taken to build an adherence record you can share with your care team.

9. Symptoms

Record how you're feeling between sessions — breathlessness, cramps, low blood pressure, swelling and more. Logging symptoms on rest days gives your doctor useful context alongside your numbers.

10. Dialysis adequacy

When your unit measures it, add your Kt/V or URR. These show whether your dialysis is clearing enough waste. Your latest value appears on Home.

11. Connecting with your doctor

If your nephrologist uses the NephroLife Doctor Portal, choose them as your treating nephrologist in your profile. They can then follow your sessions, labs, medications and symptom trends between visits, and leave you notes. You control this link, and you can disconnect at any time.

12. Language (English / தமிழ்)

NephroLife works fully in English and Tamil. Switch language any time from the Profile tab — the whole app, including diet advice, follows your choice.

13. Export & share a report

From Profile, tap Export report to generate a PDF summary of your records — handy to carry to a clinic visit or share with a doctor who isn't on the portal.

14. Free, Pro & Clinic plans

See current pricing on our home page.

15. Your data & privacy

Your health data is yours. You can export it as a PDF at any time, and you can permanently delete your account and all associated data from within the app (Profile), or by emailing us. For the full detail, read our Privacy Policy.

16. Important safety note

NephroLife does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Summaries, flags, lab explanations, diet guidance and AI-generated text are for general information only and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always consult your nephrologist or qualified healthcare provider before making any decision about your treatment, diet, fluids or medication. In an emergency, contact your doctor or local emergency services immediately. See our Terms of Service.
